Before language, before cities, before the story we tell about who we are — the animals were already doing it. Living in full presence, without apology, without distance from their own intelligence. The Animals deck uses fifteen creatures as mirrors: not symbols, not metaphors, but real and ancient teachers whose particular kind of knowing speaks directly to what we have forgotten in ourselves.
Cybele Rowe’s original artwork renders each animal with sculptural authority. Rebekah Vandenberg’s audio activations — each one specific to its guide — take you into the encounter.

THE ANIMAL SERIES
Every animal was chosen because of my own personal interaction with these powerful reflections. Whether walking in the foggy morning forest of Northern Arizona, sitting by the ocean in Marina del Rey, meditating with the shamans in the jungles of Peru, or entranced by the vast desert sky of Joshua Tree, each animal, bird, insect commanded and arrested me into the nakedness of presence. It was a summoning, a calling to enter the spaces and stillness with and as each other. Weeks, sometimes months of meditating with these beings as my guides was and is truly humbling. They ‘directed’ what was to be said and not said. Shapeshifting into these mercurial forms of magic was a necessary part of the journey. To experience through their eyes, their bodies, the stealth, movement, flight, and potency of living without the interference of thinking. They are our helpers, guides, and allies calling, beckoning each human to REMEMBER OUR DIVINE TEMPLATE.

Snake- It is time to shed your skin of everything that you are not and begin again.
Turtle- Connect to Mother Earth and feel the abundance of all that you are.
Owl- Journey with the owl to return all soul fragments that you left behind to regather your life force and power.
